Paul Pogba said Manchester United are suffering due to “details” issues in the squad after the club failed to win their 4th successive semi-final game under coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United have had the opportunity to win at least four titles in the last 12 months but it has become a jinx for the club to scale through the semi-final stage of competitions.

Last season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer guided Manchester United to the FA Cup semi-final and they were defeated by Chelsea and guided them to the semi-final stage of Europa League, they were defeated by Sevilla. Before then, Manchester United played in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup but failed to conquer Manchester City who went on to win the title.

On Wednesday, January 6, 2021, Solskjaer guided United to host City at the Old Trafford for this season’s Carabao Cup semi-final, the Red Devils failed to win the match again, making it the 4th time in a row the club has failed to win a semi-final game.

Paul Pogba who was involved in the semi-final match on Wednesday was not only unhappy that the club had to crash out at the semi-final stage of the league cup, he is not happy with the nature of goals the club conceded.

City scored two goals via set-pieces to earn a 2-0 win at Old Trafford. This makes Pogba stress that “details” are what is missing at Manchester United despite sitting 2nd on the Premier League table behind Liverpool with equal points but lesser goals difference.

Pogba said: “We are disappointed with the result, obviously, with the two goals from set-pieces. And after you know it can go both ways. We lost today and it’s not the first one…

“It’s very annoying to lose because there’s always a trophy behind all of this and we have to do better. We have to do better for sure…

“Details make the difference all the time and when it’s big games like this, details, set-piece and we lost on this.

“We have to learn. We have to learn because it’s not the first time. We have to learn.

“We have to get through this as well. Then after this, there are big games coming up so after tonight we go again.”

Manchester United have crashed out of the 2020-2021 UEFA Champions League and demoted to the Europa League, hence, all things being equal, the club is left with the opportunity of winning the Europa League, Premier League, and the FA Cup this season.

The club’s next game is a FA Cup 3rd round match against Watford scheduled for Saturday, January 9, at 21:00. United will continue with their rise in the Premier League on Tuesday, July 12 away at Burnley.
