Talks have taken place between Paris Saint Germain and Mikel Arteta over the possibility of the Spaniard becoming the club’s next manager, according to multiple sources in France.

Arteta led Arsenal to a second-place finish in the 2022/23 Premier League season, challenging Manchester City for the title but “bottling” it at the dying embers of the season.

The 41-year-old penned a new deal at Arsenal that would see him remain at the club until at least the summer of 2024.

However, French giants Paris Saint Germain have held talks with Mikel Arteta as they intend to lure him to France.

The Sporting director of Paris Saint Germain held talks with Mikel Arteta

The Sporting director of Paris Saint Germain, Luis Campos, has discussed with the Gunners manager as they continue to search for a replacement for Christophe Galtier.

PSG are in search of their fourth permanent head coach in five years after dismissing Galtier following a single campaign as manager.

Christophe Galtier won only the French Ligue 1 and Trophée des Champions in a season that was average based on the Parisians lofty standards.

Mikel Arteta’s reported links with the vacant job at the French capital is coming after conversations involving the club and German tactician Julian Nagelsmann apparently resulted in a deadlock.

Arsenal fans who are worried over a possible exit of their manager will heave a sigh of relief after some information emanated that the discussions yielded no headway for PSG.

Luis Campos is reportedly not confident that the record 11 time champions would be able to nab Arteta away from Arsenal.

The Spaniard is focused on taking charge of his side in the Champions League next season as the Gunners would be making a return to the competition after a six-year absence.

It has also been said that Luis Campos is not the man who makes the key decision regarding the appointment of a new manager.

It is understood that discussions allegedly were only held to see if Arteta would be interested in managing Paris Saint Germain.

Mikel Arteta is a former player of Paris Saint Germain

Arteta played for Paris Saint Germain during his playing days, joining on loan from Barcelona in the summer of 2000.

The Spaniard made 31 appearances and scored 2 goals for the Parisians in an 18 month loan spell.

Meanwhile, Sergio Conceicao is a name on PSG’s managerial wishlist and there are reports that the Porto boss could be heading to the French capital.

It is believed that the deal to acquire the services of Conceicao is expected to be finalized this weekend.

The Portuguese is represented by Jorge Mendes and the top football agent is supposedly set to hold talks with PSG this weekend.

Both parties would reportedly discuss a deal which would see the former Braga manager pen a contract with the Parisians.

The 48-year-old is seen as a perfect fit for the vacant managerial role due to his experience of coaching in the French top-flight division with Nantes.

Conceicao is also able to speak in French and that is said to be an added reason why they really want his signature.

The ex-Standard Liege head coach is also interested in becoming the manager of Paris Saint Germain as he eyes the prospect of managing big names like Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Sergio Conceicao also fancies the job due to the lure of massive backing in the transfer market.

Sergio Conceicao is currently under contract with Porto until at least the summer of 2024.

However, the Parisians would have to pay his release clause of £15.3 million in order to get his services.
