Pablo Mari, a defender for Arsenal, was reportedly stabbed in a Milan shopping mall and rushed to the hospital earlier today, October 27, 2022.
Futballnews gathered that the 29-year-old is awake and Monza manager Raffaele Palladino is scheduled to visit him on Thursday night.
Arsenal, who acquired Mari from Brazilian team Flamengo in 2020, sent him on loan to Italian club Monza ahead of this season to garner more game time.
Despite being hospitalized, Mari “looks to be OK,” according to Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal.
“I know [club technical director] Edu has been in touch with his relatives,” said Arteta after Thursday’s 2-0 defeat at PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League.
“He is in hospital. He seems to be OK. I will get a briefing now about what happened.”

Who is Pablo Mari?
Pablo Mari Villar, a professional footballer from Spain who was born on August 31, 1993, plays as a center defender for Serie A team Monza while on loan from Premier League team Arsenal.
Mari obtained his degree from Mallorca’s youth program and spent his entire playing career with several clubs in Spain, the Netherlands, Brazil, England, and Italy.
With Flamengo, he won the Copa Libertadores and Série A in 2019, and that year, he was a member of the Série A Team of the Year.
What happened in Milan?
Pablo Mari was one of six persons who were stabbed in a supermarket outside of Milan on Thursday evening.
One of the victims who is yet to be identified reportedly died in the attack.
As for Pablo Mari, he was brought to the hospital in a pool of blood. However, the center back is reportedly responding to treatment at the time of publishing this report.
The incident reportedly took place on Thursday evening at around 6.30 pm local time in a Carrefour in the Milanofirori di Assago shopping center.
Six individuals were harmed during an attack by a 46-year-old man who stole a knife from the shop’s shelf. Reports in Italy affirmed that the security operatives have arrested the suspect.
Calciomercato claims that before police came, other shop patrons managed to halt the assailant.
According to accounts, a stabbing occurred in a supermarket close to Milan, northern Italy, leaving one person dead and at least four others injured, some critically.
According to reports, a man in the town of Assago started attacking individuals, and one of the victims was a Carrefour employee.
Will Pablo Mari survive the attack?
Following the Gunners’ 2-0 loss to PSV Eindhoven, Mikel Arteta said: “I just found out. I am aware that Edu has spoken to his family. He is hospitalized, but he appears to be doing fine.”
The club continued: : “We understand he’s in hospital and OK but know no more than that at this time.”
Adriano Galliani, president of AC Monza, said on the club’s Twitter page: “Dear Pablo, we are all here close to you and your family, we love you, keep fighting as you know how to do, you are a warrior and you will get well soon!”
In a subsequent statement, Galliani continued: “Pablo Mari is not in danger as his injuries are not life-threatening. We hope to see him back soon.”
The shopping center issued the following statement: “With regard to the events that occurred in the Assago Hypermarket on the evening of October 27, Carrefour Italia expresses its utmost closeness to the employees and customers involved in the attack and to their families.”
“The company confirms that it immediately took action to alert the rescue and the police and to stop the attacker, who was taken into custody, and to ensure the proper conduct of the rescue operations.”
“Representatives of the top management immediately went to the scene and are in close contact with the victims and their families.”
