In the quest of bagging their second league title since 1945, VfL Wolfsburg manager, Oliver Glasner has expressed his happiness on The Wolves performance against sixteenth-placed Arminia away from the Volkswagen Arena,3-1 it ended
Three unreplied goals-courtesy of Renato Steffen in the 29th and 47th minutes with Maximilian Arnold’s goal at the 54th minutes- were all that the green and white side got to gain a maximum of three points against their German counterparts.
Wolfsburg has extended their unbeaten run to nine matches undefeated- seven games in a row with conceding a goal-bringing a green light for the side in securing their place in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Despite the fact Wolfsburg won the match the hard way, Oliver Glasner was elated, saying the team was focus on getting the deserved victory.
“I’m very pleased and satisfied with the team’s performance. We knew that an away match at Bielefeld was always going to be a tough task…” the 46-year-old Austrian said.
“..But right from the first whistle, we showed that we were up for the challenge. The lads were highly focused and let play flow well.” he added
Glasner named the same line-up as in previous matches, and his charges had plenty of possession in the opening exchanges, always looking to press forward. He said his side had a mature display against Uwe Neuhaus led side, charging them to keep up the good attitude in the subsequent matches
“To begin with, we struggled to find the spaces and Bielefeld were set up well, but then we took the lead thanks to a great move, doubled it straight after half-time and then followed that up with a wonderful third goal.” said Glasner
“It was a very mature and controlled performance out there today. I’d like to congratulate the team on how committed they are in every match. It will be important to maintain this level over the coming weeks. It was a great win for us. Now we can enjoy the long weekend ahead of us.”
However, Uwe Neuhaus of Arminia said Wolfsburg got the deserved victory over his side, saying that they started the match beautifully, made some mistakes which his opponents pounced on in getting the victory.
“VfL Wolfsburg earned their win. We started the match off very well and the opening minutes were very closely contested. Unfortunately, we made a mistake in the first half and VfL took the first chance that came their way and scored from it.” Uwe Neuhaus said
“After the break, things went relatively quickly and we lost our focus a little bit. And once it was 3-0, the game was out of reach already. Despite this, the team didn’t let their heads drop and kept looking for a way to get back into it. We’ll go away and analyse the match and work on making fewer mistakes.”
