Oleksandr Zinchenko has agreed to the personal terms of a four-year contract and is scheduled to have a physical this week to finalize his £30 million transfer from Manchester City to Arsenal.
The clubs agreed on a price last Friday, and Monday saw the conclusion of negotiations with the player. The former assistant to Pep Guardiola at City, Mikel Arteta, who is now the coach of Arsenal, was someone the Ukrainian international was eager to work with once more.
Marc Cucurella of Brighton is Guardiola’s main target for the left-back position, and City are getting ready to make a bid for him.
Zinchenko can play in several positions, including center midfield, but City has primarily employed him as a left-back. He is likely to follow Gabriel Jesus from City as Arteta’s second signing of the summer.
After a brief stint at Barcelona during which he could not advance past the B team, Cucurella transferred from Getafe to Brighton in August of last year. He made his debut appearance for Spain’s national team on June 8, 2021.
