The manager of Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted that any player at the club can be dropped even though they expect to play all the time.

The Norwegian tactician noted that the previous week was difficult for the club due to the humiliating 5-0 home defeat at the hands of Liverpool.

Recall that after the Premier League game defeat, coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was subjected to criticism. Some pundits and fans of the club wanted him to be sacked but the club’s board still has faith in him.

Later today, October 30, Solskjaer will travel to Tottenham Hotspur stadium to take on Spurs. The Premier League game which will kick off at 17:30 is seen as an opportunity for Manchester United players to redeem themselves.

Ahead of the Premier League game, coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stressed that he is ready to fight back starting from today’s game.

The coach said: “We need a reaction. It’s my job to put the players in the right frame of mind.”

“I’m responsible for the reaction, result, and performance. We’ve worked on everything on the pitch that needs to be sorted for a footballer.

“We’ve had a good week and I feel that the boys are ready to give their best, as they always do.

“Nothing went to plan [against Liverpool] and that was nowhere near our best…

“In a squad like we have, with top-quality players, everyone expects to play. I expect every one of them to expect to play,” he said.

“But they also know they have good team-mates around them and no-one’s undroppable, of course, they are not.”

During Sir Alex Ferguson’s era at Manchester United, he had a tough time handling the team in 1990. The club’s board then let him stay on the job and went on to become the most successful coach the club has ever had.

Ferguson was at Old Trafford last weekend when Liverpool defeated Manchester United 5-0. The Red Devils have never suffered such a defeat at home in the club’s Premier League history.

Ahead of the Manchester United league game against Tottenham Hotspur, coach Solskjaer who was a player under the legendary coach was asked whether he had spoken to Ferguson after the defeat and if he could survive like him, and Solskjaer said yes.

Solskjaer said: “We had a commercial day and Sir Alex came to do some commercial stuff. I met and spoke to him for a brief moment. He was in there with Cristiano [Ronaldo].

“I’ve been through some very bad moments here as a player. When I’ve been a coach and manager I’ve had to deal with setbacks. There have probably been two or three crises at least since I became the manager here.

“One thing I can say is that I will always give it a shot and fight back.”

Manchester United are currently out of the top four. They are sitting on the 9th spot with 14 points in 9 games. They have recorded 4 wins, 2 draws, and three defeats.

Hence, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is condemned to beat Tottenham that are currently sitting on the 8th spot with 15 points in 9 games, three points away from fourth-placed West Ham United. If the Red Devils suffer a defeat today, it might signal the end of his coaching career at Old Trafford.
