The manager of Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stressed that Jesse Lingard is part of his plans for the coming season and no decision has been made over Marcus Rashford’s proposed surgery. He also stressed that Jadon Sancho is still Borussia Dortmund’s player.
Manchester United are trying to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2021-2022 season to build upon their success in the 2020-2021 season. Recall that in the previous season, they contended the Premier League title with Manchester City and finished second on the league table.
As it stands, anything less than that might not be accepted especially by the club’s fans who have been clamoring that coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should win a major title for them.
After their pre-season friendly game against lower league Derby County which ended 2-1 in favor of Manchester United, coach Solskjaer gave updates on Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho; see the updates below:
Jesse Lingard is in the plans of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Jesse Lingard used to be the most promising football star at Manchester United. But when his game dropped, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not hesitate to drastically reduce his game time.
When that persisted, the English football star agreed to go on loan to West Ham United in the second half of the 2020-2021 season. While at West Ham, the English star was so impressive that West Ham tried to make his loan move permanent.
However, coach Solskjaer said Lingard is part of his plans for the coming season which means that the football star is not leaving United anytime soon.
Coach Solskjaer said: “He was one of the positives. He’s a Manchester United player and he wants to fight for his place.
“He’s come back bright, confident, and with lots of energy. I think everyone saw what he did at the end of last season with West Ham.
“He’s still in my plans. I expect him at Man Utd at the start of the season.”
Update on Marcus Rashford proposed surgery
Marcus Rashford of Manchester United is expected to carry out a surgery that could keep him out of football until November 2021.
Futballnews reported that the shoulder of the English football star would be operated upon later this month but coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said a decision concerning the surgery has not been made.
“We have to make the best decision for him for what to do with his injury, we still have not decided the course of action,” Solskjaer revealed.
Jadon Sancho is still a Dortmund player
Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that Manchester United have an agreement with Borussia Dortmund over Jadon Sancho but it is not a done deal yet.
He said some paperwork needed to be completed before the English winger will cease to be a player of Dortmund.
Recall that Manchester United have agreed to pay Borussia Dortmund £73 million for the services of the 21-year-old right-winger. Sancho had reportedly undergone medicals but Manchester United are yet to officially announce him.
Solskjaer said: “There are a couple of things to do with paperwork but we hope we can announce one player who has had a lot written about him. We are working, we want to have a strong squad.
“I don’t think it’s a secret we have a deal with Dortmund, but until the paperwork is done he is still a Dortmund player.”
