OGC Nice have confirmed the safety of Alexis Beka Beka, who made an attempt to commit suicide after his girlfriend broke up with him.
The club had also taken care of the youngster as they said in a statement on Friday,
“Above all, we are relieved that everything ended well today for Alexis. He was taken care of.” We will continue to respect medical confidentiality, and we ask everyone to do the same and respect their privacy.”
“We are in support, as well as that of the entire club”.
OGC Nice midfielder Alexis Beka Beka, who attempted to jump from the Magnan Viaduct in Nice, got removed from the scene before he could execute the plan.
The Viaduct is extremely high with an approximation of 100 meters from where the player was attempting to jump down.
His attempt caused a lot of traffic disruptions on the A8 motorway.
There were negotiations between the OGC Nice psychologist on site, emergency services, firemen, and the military men who were involved in ensuring Beka Beka safety.
However, in response to the heartbreaking situation, OGC Nice canceled their schedule with the media, and they proceeded to create a crisis unit to help solve related issues in the future.
The other players will continue training as the Ligue 1 matches continue.
OGC Nice sit in second place on the Ligue 1 table as they are scheduled to face Brest on October 1, 2023.
The 22-year-old midfielder joined the French club from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2022 for a fee worth £12 million.
It was revealed that Beka Beka hasn’t made a single appearance this season. However, since joining the club, the Congolese has made 22 appearances, scoring his first goal in the Europa League qualifiers against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
