An official statement was released on the club’s website on

The French midfielder leaves Juventus after three years and five trophies won at the club With our colors on his back, he fought and played his heart out in every single game; placing constant pressure on the opponents, tearing apart the run of play and ever so eloquently relaunching the ball into action.

After three years and five titles won (three Scudetti, one Coppa Italia and one Italian Super Cup), Blaise Matuidi and Juventus say goodbye with the consensual termination of the player’s contract.

Matuidi played 98 games in Serie A and since his arrival at Juventus, and except for Paulo Dybala (134), no player has made more appearances across all competitions than him, turning out 133 times for the Bianconeri.
“Charo” – as he is affectionately known for his vulture-like celebration – won 210 tackles from 2017/18 until today in all competitions, all while recording 114 interceptions and scoring eight goals, with five assists provided. The first of his 133 games played for Juventus dates back to 19 August 2017, in the 3-0 home win inflicted on Cagliari. His first goal arrived four months later, in Bologna, with a shot that exceeded Mirante. It was, above all, his substance in the midline that made the difference, and which made him a player much loved by the Juventus fans: for his determination, for his grit and for his ability to never give up.

And it is because of all these characteristics, and for the great commitment, he has always put in place with us, that we thank him.
Blaise is someone who will always be in our hearts and we wish him all the very best for the future.
    Merci, Blaise!

Matuidi’s energy, grit, and energy made him a fan favorite and was an ever-present player in his three years spell with the club. The new head coach would have to sign a worthy replacement and with the season restart coming soon, and the team in need of serious revamp, Pirlo could well be tempted to put on the shirt again himself.
