The much anticipated El Clasico match slated for 26 October, between Barcelona and Real Madrid has been shifted. This was due to the ongoing incessant protest and fear of civil unrest going on in Barcelona.

The match which was scheduled to hold in Barcelona was postponed as a result of series of protest and clash with police in the Catalonia region in Spain; this led to the arrest of nine leaders of the Catalonian separatist group on Monday.

Although, this issue generated a lot of controversies as Barcelona disagrees with the La Liga FA officials on plans to change the venue of the game from Barcelona to Madrid. The Barcelona manager, Ernest Valverde, had spoken on behalf of the club that they were highly not in agreement with changing the location of the game to Madrid, as against the initial plan of playing the match in the scheduled venue. He said this as the team visits Slavia Praque for their champions’ league fixture on 23 October, which is three days before the original schedule of the El Clasico.

Barcelona however made open, their desire to play the match as originally scheduled. Through a statement issued by the club on Friday, they wanted it that way because of the confidence they had in their fans who they believe always express themselves in their unique way at the club’s stadium.

On the other hand, the Real Madrid Coach spoke his mind when he was asked by news men, concerning the postponement of the match in a news conference on Friday. According to him, he said the team will play anywhere, and on any scheduled date that will be released by the appropriate authority. He further told the news men that the club has no fears and they were ready for any adaptation concerning the game.
