The Nigerian players are making waves in different football clubs all over the world. These players are extremely interested in participating at the national level for the Super Eagles or the Super Falcons in all competitions.
Below are nine players who are eagerly waiting for a call-up to the Super Eagles.
1. Tosin Adarabioyo (Chelsea)
The Chelsea defender was born on September 27, 1997, in the city of Paddigton, London. Adarabioyo is currently 27 years old.
He represented England at the age grade level, and is still eligible to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The Chelsea defender previously turned down an attempt to join the Super Eagles after the Nigeria Football Federation threw the offer at him.
However, in 2022, the defender showed interest in playing for the Nigeria National Team with an explosive statement saying “I Want to Join The Super Eagles.”
2. Chuba Akpom (Ajax)
The Ajax striker was born on October 9, 1995, in the city of Newham, England. He is currently 29 years old with a height of 6 feet and O inches.
In 2016, the Ajax striker was approached by the Nigeria Football Federation to provide him a chance to play for the Super Eagles.
Three years after he was approached by the Super Eagles, Akpom showed his interest in playing for the Nigeria national team in an interview, saying, “It was a personal decision. I’m Nigerian, and my whole family feels very Nigerian, and it will be nice to represent Nigeria.”
3. Brooke Nunn (Central Coast Mariners)
The 31-year-old midfielder currently plays for the Central Coast Mariners. She was born on February 4, 1993, in the city of London, England.
The midfielder recently shared her opinion about playing for the Super Falcons. She said, “I get my Nigerian heritage from my mother, who is half Nigerian and half German.”
“She was born in England, as was I, but I lived in a foster home from an early age. I see a reflection of this potential Nigerian spirit in me, and I think being part of the team the Super Falcons would be an honour and achievement for me as a footballer.”
“It’s something that fulfils you. I find it very motivating, and I want to be a symbol of this possibility.”
4. German Onugkha (Copenhagen)
The Russian professional footballer was born on July 6, 1996, in the city of Moscow, Russia. He is currently 28 years old with a height of 6 feet and 3 inches.
The striker is now open to playing for the Super Eagles of Nigeria after he rejected a national team call-up from Russia.
Onugkha is desperate to get a Nigeria passport, as revealed in the latest interview where he said, “I decided to say no because I wanted to focus on my next club, my future, and therefore I said that it would be better for me to stay here in Europe.”
“During the next month I will try to get a Nigerian passport because my father is from there. So, I will go to the embassy here in Copenhagen and see if I can get it; then we will see.”
5. Praise Adebo (Stenhousemuir FC)
Adebo, who is currently 21 years old, was born in Scotland to a Nigerian parent. She has not played for the Scotland Women National Team, so she doesn’t need to switch allegiances to the Nigeria National Team.
She revealed it will be a dream if she gets called up by the Nigeria Football Federation. Adebo said, “It would be a dream to represent Nigeria internationally.”
6. Justin Njinmah (Werder Bremen)
The Werder Bremen striker was born on November 15, 2000 in the city of Hamburg, Germany. He is currently 23 years old with a height of 6 feet and 0 inches.
He has not made any senior appearances for the Germany side and may consider playing for the Nigeria national team if the need arises.
7. David Stockbrink (Monchengladbach Academy)
The 16-year-old fast-growing striker, Stockbrink, from Monchegladbach Academy is looking forward to playing for the Super Eagles at the highest level.
The player’s mother, named Augustina, revealed how interested her son is in playing for the Nigeria national team.
She said, “I will be very proud for my son to represent my country, Nigeria. Germany has a lot of players; however, I want him to play for Nigeria because he was born and brought up in Germany, so representing Nigeria will give him more opportunity to be part of his roots.”
“It won’t be out of place for him to switch nationality and play for Nigeria. He loves the country, and he would like to get an invitation to play for the Nigerian national team soon. It would be great to play for Nigeria.”
“I know there are a lot of quality players and competition in every position, but David is not bothered by that because it is part of his job to fight for a shirt if given a chance.”
8. Victoria Ezebinyuo (SC Freiburg)
The SC Freiburg defender, who is of Nigerian descent, was born on January 28, 2022 and is currently 22 years old. She was born to a Nigeria father and a German mother.
In an interview, the defender said “i would be interested in obtaining a second citizenship so that i can play for Nigeria national team.”
9. Simone Reilly (Bohemian FC)
The Bohemian striker was born in the Republic of Ireland, and she is currently 16 years old. He was born to an Irish father and a Nigerian mother.
The striker has caught the attention of football teams like Arsenal and West Ham United for her impressive performance.
Reilly was part of the provisional squad of the Super Eagles for the 2024 U-20 Women World Cup in Colombia, but she failed to make the final cut.
She didn’t play for the Nigeria Women National team for the 2024 U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Even though there are limited chances of representing the Nigerian female team, she still considers the national team.
