Chelsea and France national team midfielder, N’Golo Kante could be ruled out of the French squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after relapsing from his hamstring injury.

The 31-year-old Blues renowned midfielder sustained the hamstring injury during Chelsea’s 2-2 Premier League draw against Tottenham in August.

Chelsea’s new signing, Conor Gallagher replaced the injured Kante in the 84th minute of the match.

Afterward, N’Golo Kante underwent a series of rehab sessions with the Blues medical team and he got back to training at Cobham last month after missing six matches.

However, the French central midfielder could not travel to Italy on Monday ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League fixtures against hot rival AC Milan.

Chelsea supporters were expecting to have the star midfielder back to action after he was spotted training with his teammates before it became known that his injury has deteriorated.

No official report has been issued concerning when Kante would return to action as the Blues’ medical team is still awaiting the test result to determine the injury damage.

However, according to reports, Kante is likely to miss out on Chelsea’s next five games due to his relapsed injury issue.

Moreover, the 31-year-old midfielder will also be a potential doubt for national duty in the 2022 Qatar World Cup. N’Golo Kante could be at risk of missing out on the 2022 Qatar World Cup given the tournament commences on November 20.

Chelsea’s new manager, Graham Potter reported that the 31-year-old France football star has relapsed from his hamstring injury while they were hoping to see him return to action.

Potter said: “N’Golo, we are just waiting, he has had a reaction in training so we are just waiting on the news from that.

“It’s certainly not ideal and it’s disappointing for him and us. We have to wait and see the extent of it and go from there.”

Meanwhile, it was earlier reported that Kante does not want to leave Chelsea next season as he will be available on a free transfer when his current deal with the Blues expires in 2023.

As it stands, negotiations have stalled between Chelsea and Kante over the length of a potential contract extension.

The 31-year-old Frenchman is asking for a three to four-year extension just like the one given to Chelsea’s new signing Kalidou Koulibaly over the summer, but worried about his injury record in recent seasons, the Blues are only willing to commit to a two-year deal.

Now that his injury has worsened, it remains to be seen whether or not Chelsea will succumb to Kante’s demand but a longer extension deal is uncertain.
