Neymar was sent off for diving in a Ligue 1 match against Strasbourg on December 28, 2022. It was Neymar’s first game after Brazil were eliminated by Croatia in the World Cup quarterfinals.

Neymar received his first yellow card in the 61st minute after his hands hit the face of Strasbourg defender Andrien Thomasson, and a few minutes later the Brazilian was warned for diving in a bid to win a penalty.

Although the referee, Clement Turpin, gave him a warning, the arrogant Neymar argued with the referee over the incident, prompting the referee to show him a red card.

That was Neymar’s 5th red card since he joined PSG from Barcelona for a record fee of £222 million. The winger will be suspended for the next clash against second-placed Lens in Ligue 1 on January 1, 2023.

Neymar went furious about the incident after the red card and he immediately left the pitch, even in the middle of the match, which doesn’t look like a good behavior to PSG manager Christopher Galtier.

Although the manager understands Neymar’s behavior and is not planning on sanctioning the Brazilian.

However before the incident, Neymar consistently nutmeg different Strasbourg players and received cheers from PSG fans who seems to be enjoying the match.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner is likely to miss PSG’s next game against Lens and a cup tie against Châteauroux on January 6, 2023.

Messi who is still celebrating with Argentina is likely to be in the line-up on January 11, 2023, against Angers in Ligue 1.
