Paris Saint Germain forward Neymar is done with league football this season as his club has been declared champions of the French Ligue 1. Yet, the skilful Brazilian star said he has been training harder than ever before.

French football authorities cancelled the league prematurely and handed the title to PSG. This decision has attracted litigation threats from a couple of clubs that believe that they still have a chance to qualify for next season’s European competitions or have all it takes to avoid relegation if the season was not cut short. Two clubs that have been very personal about that are Lyon and Amiens.

Lyon lost out of a European spot and believe they deserve a chance to prove that they have all it takes for a top-four finish. While Amiens have already started legal proceedings for their “unjust” relegation. Amiens and Toulouse were the two clubs that were relegated after the French government suspended football action until after September.

Neymar has no business with all those dramas as he has continued to keep fit in his mansion in Brazil where he has been since football was suspended in France in March.

The 28-year-old football superstar last played competitive football on March 11. The last game was a Champions League round of 16 second-leg match between PSG and Borussia Dortmund. PSG defeated the German Bundesliga side 2 goals to 0 in France to scale through the round of 16.

“The aim is to be ready for when they signal the return of club activities, so I can be in the best possible condition,” Neymar said.

“I’m here, training hard, with the same rhythm and frequency that I would with the club. “Training even harder actually, with more activities to compensate for the lack of games.

“Of course I miss the competition, but [fitness coach] Ricardo Rosa set up a programme that I have been following to the letter.”

Neymar had a relatively rough 2019-2020 season. The season was ridden with injuries and on and off the field controversies as usual. In the cancelled season, he played a total of 22 matches in all competitions for PSG and managed to score only 18 times in all competitions before football was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic. He scored in PSG’s victory over Dortmund on March 11.
