Football players like Neymar Jr and Eden Hazard, who craved for consistency and have performed beyond expectations in their careers have suffered horrible injuries over the years, limiting the chances of growing into the legendary status.

These injuries ruined their career and forced some of them into early retirement when they were not expecting it.

Neymar Jr., who currently plays for Al Hilal, has been sidelined excessively due to injuries. These injuries have put doubt on whether he will continue to play at the highest level.

In the 2023/24 season, the Brazil national team’s all-time goal scorer was out of football action for 366 days, missing 53 games in all competitions.

For the 2024/25 season, he suffered a hamstring injury and was out for 41 days, missing seven matches in all club competitions.

In addition, Neymar Jr had an injury recently, with his return date likely to come in the next 28 days.

He passed through unbearable pain during his recovery, but the injury kept hitting him aggressively.

The second player that was ruined by injury was Eden Hazard. He consistently got the recognition he deserved during his playing time at Lille and Chelsea.

However, his Real Madrid career was marred by injuries. Also, this limited the winger’s playing chances at the Los Blancos.

Another player who didn’t live up to his potential is former English international Jack Wilshere. Injuries propel the superstar to retire early at the age of 30.

In the 2011/12 season, Wilshere was out for 412 days, missing 128 matches in all competitions. From 2014 to 2021, the midfielder was out for 953 days due to injuries.

Former Chelsea star Andre Schurrle had his football career ruined by severe injuries. Schurrle was out for 91 days during the last stage of his playing career.

This forced him to reconsider playing football, going into retirement.

Liverpool’s Ballon d’Or winner in 2001, Michael Owen, couldn’t get the exceptional career he had ever hoped for in years due to injuries.

He didn’t have to battle injuries early in his career. However, in the 2006/07 season, Owen had a ligament tear and was out for 308 days, missing 72 games in all competitions.

The striker has failed to be extensively free from injuries until the end of his career. Another former Liverpool player on the list is Daniel Sturridge.

The former football star turned pundit, Sturridge, battled with injuries consistently. Despite the horrible injuries he had, the Englishman played for Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City.

Micah Richards got his career ruined by injuries. The player’s worst injury situation was in the 2012/13 season when he had knee surgery and was out for 156 days, missing 46 matches in all competitions.

Paul Pogba and De Lima Ronaldo were also ruined by injuries.
