Newcastle United since the Saudi takeover have taken the Premier League by storm and currently have the best defense in the league.
While Chelsea spent a record £482.64 million in transfers this season, Newcastle United surprisingly spent £254.8 million in signing their current squad.
Interestingly, Newcastle United’s spending is paying off as they are 4th on the Premier League table with 56 points after 30 matches, Chelsea are 11th with just 39 points after 31 matches.
Having spent that much amount, it is fair that Newcastle are in their current position and are vying for European football next season.
The Magpies lost their last match 3-0 to Aston Villa which ended their 5-match unbeaten run in the Premier League this season.
They have, however, won the last 5 out of their 8 matches in the Premier League and have conceded an average of 0.80 goals per game since the beginning of the season in the league.
This form shows that Newcastle United have conceded an average number of goals per game of 1.38 in the last 8 league matches, which is 72.5% higher than their current season’s average.
Out of their remaining 8 league matches, Newcastle will play more matches at home (5) than away (3) before the end of the league season.
With the 56 points they have garnered this season, the Magpies have picked up 25 points more than they did last season after 30 matches, and their total in the current season is also 27 points higher than it was two seasons ago at the same stage.
This is a massive progress for the team as the fans are witnessing the best version of their club since Alan Shearer’s era.
