Newcastle United might not be doing overtly well in the Premier League in terms of accolades, but their fans are enjoying themselves in the stands.

Newcastle United fans have been revealed as the highest meat consumers in the Premier League based on the result of a poll.

Recall we reported that a Newcastle United fan was stabbed in Italy when he visited the country to watch his team play against AC Milan in the Champions League.

The fan, whose name was identified to be Eddie McKay, was with his son when they were attacked by a group of people.

Eddie, 58, who was immediately rushed to the hospital claimed that the men were about 7-8 persons and were putting on balaclavas – covering part of their faces.

While Newcastle United enjoyed glory days in the past, the fans are not taking it that way as they enjoy themselves every matchday.

Newcastle United tops a poll of 2,000 fans – 20 from each of the 20 Premier League teams. The poll shows that 92% of Newcastle United fans were meat eaters.

Also, 97% of the Magpies fans also known as the Toon Army are carnivores, a survey of the top tier teams’ supporters says.

Tottenham, Brighton, Crystal Palace, and Liverpool fans were the next on the list and they are on 95%.

West Ham fans had the lowest percentage of meat-eaters with 87%, as the plant-based food firm Future Farm’s poll of 100 from each Premier League side.

Richard Pollard, 34, a Newcastle United fan, revealed that: “I went veggie last year as my partner’s one and she’s been on at me.”

“I’ve not fallen off the meat wagon yet, but I do crave a bacon sandwich. I’d better stop, I’m torturing myself.”

Future Farm claimed carnivores were “on their way out” and being veggie was “becoming the new normal”.

The pool reportedly comes after one Newcastle United fan James Longworth, 40, turned his restroom into a mini St James’ Park.

The fan created his very own bog on the Tyne while his wife Tarin was away on a spa weekend and it turned out awesome.

James, who is a father of three, said: “She asked if I could paint the bathroom while she was away so I said ‘sure, how do you want it?’

“She replied, ‘It’s up to you — just nothing too loud’. I then had this spur-of-the-moment idea.”

The Newcastle United fan included a £200 mural of stadium St James’ Park, black and white stripes on the other walls and artificial grass on the floor.

And the funniest part is whenever the door is opened, Local Hero plays — the music the team walks out to during home games.
