Champions League gatecrashers Newcastle United have announced the signing of former Everton winger Anthony Gordon on January 29.
Anthony Gordon pushed for a move to the St James Park after the Magpies declared interest in signing the 21-year-old English star for £45million as they continue their push for Champions League football next season.
Speaking after his unveiling by the club as their new January acquisition, Gordon disclosed he was convinced the Magpies was his new destination, and the fan base and City really suit his person.
“I think the fan base and the city really suits me as a person, the way the team are playing under the gaffer at the minute really suits me, and the club just look like they’re heading in the right direction”, he said.
The former Toffees winger said he is yet to tap into his full potential as a player and his fans are yet to have a full dose of what he is capable of. Meanwhile, now that he has joined the Magpies, he believes it is a step in the right direction and a higher pedestal in his football career.
“I feel like it’s a really big step. People haven’t seen what I’m capable of yet. I think under the gaffer, and the way the club’s going, I can really excel here”, he noted.
Eddie Howe expressed his delight to sign Anthony Gordon describing the youngster as a “top talent.”
“I’m delighted to sign Anthony – he’s a top, top talent”, the coach noted.
Before he was unveiled by the Magpies , Anthony Gordon was spotted in leaked footage signing his Magpies contract and leaving St James’ Park.
Gordon has struggled for form this season as Everton’s struggles continue to grow.
He scored three goals earlier in the campaign before refusing to turn up to training in recent days in order to force a move out of his boyhood club.
