Bournemouth star striker Callum Wilson has completed a £20 million switch to Newcastle as he penned a four-year deal.

It is reported that Callum Wilson turned down an offer from Aston Villa and flew to the St. James Park in club Sporting Director, Mike Ashley’s private helicopter to complete the deal.

Callum Wilson becomes the third-highest transfer fee paid by Newcastle for a player, behind Joelinton who was signed from Hoffenheim for £40 million, and Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United for £21 million in 2019

Speaking on his move, Wilson said: “From the minute I knew that Newcastle were interested, it was definitely something that appealed to me. It’s a massive club with great history. Along the years they’ve had great strikers so if I can emulate half of what they’ve done, I’d like to attempt that.”

“It feels amazing. Such a massive club. It wasn’t an easy decision as Villa is back home for me but this club is huge and I want to get off to a flying start.

“The strikers here have been iconic over the years and I want to emulate what they’ve achieved. My son watched the film Goal – so he wanted me to come here! I met most of the boys today, and I can’t wait to get training with them.

“[Alan Shearer] is a hero here and I asked him a few questions when I was coming up, he reiterated I’m making the right decision, and said if I work hard and score goals the fans will love me.”

Newcastle boss, Steve Bruce, said he was delighted to get the Bournemouth striker and revealed his admiration for him. “Callum is somebody I’ve admired for a long time and I’m delighted to get him,” he said.

“He has done fantastically well at Bournemouth and was deservedly playing centre-forward for England less than two years ago.”

Wilson has now ended his six-year romance with Bournemouth, following their relegation tho the English Championship last season.
