Premier League side Newcastle have broken their transfer record to complete the signing of Aleksander Isak from Real Sociedad. The deal rises to £63m when add-ons are included.
The transfer window closes in a few days, with clubs struggling to beef up their squad for the ongoing football season.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has expressed his delight with the successful completion of the deal as he actually needed the youngster.
Howe has banked on two attributes from Isak – his prolific goal-scoring form and his age which leaves room for more development in the Premier League
At the time of filing this report, Newcastle were not done with Isak’s international clearance, which will allow him to feature for the Magpies on Sunday, 28, 2022. If the club can clear all hurdles will have the youngster make his debut for the club against Wolves.
Isak is the fourth player to join Newcastle this summer and has reportedly agreed a six-years contract with the magpies.
The highly-rated Swedish youngster has already been handed the no.14 shirt. Newcastle manager hopes to feature Isak as the team’s striking options in their match against Wolves in their matchday 4 encounter.
Who Is Alexander Isak?
Isak is a 22-year-old Swedish international. He was born and raised in Stockholm County by parents of Eritrean descent.
Isak started his football career at AIK in 2005. He played for the AIK youth team for 11 years before transitioning to the senior team. At AIK Senior team, Isak played just for a year between 2016 and 2017. He made 24 appearances and scored 10 goals for the club.
Isak joined Borussia Dortmund II in 2017. He made only 12 appearances and scored 5 goals in his two years stint with the team. In his two years spell with Borussia Dortmund II, he appeared for Borussia Dortmund’s main team 5 times before going on a loan spell to Willem II.
He joined Real Sociedad in 2019. He played for the Spanish side for three years, making 105 appearances, and scoring 33 goals. In the summer of 2022, Newcastle confirmed the signing of Isak from Real Sociedad.
National Team Stats
Between 2015 and 2016, Isak played for the Sweden U-17, making 19 appearances and scoring 6 goals. From 2016 to 2017, he made 6 appearances for the U-19 and scored 2 goals. He then moved to the Sweden U-21 between 2016 and 2018 and made 7 appearances without a goal.
He made his debut for the Sweden senior national team in 2017. He has been capped 37 times and has scored 9 goals.
Awards And Honours
Isak won the Copa Del Rey with Real Sociedad in the 2019-2020 season. He also emerged as a top-scorer in the competition. In 2016, he bagged Allsvenskan newcomer of the year, including the Allsvenskan player of the month in September 2016.
