Nasser Al-Khelaifi in hot water following allegations of Kidnap and Torturing activities

    The president of French club Paris Saint Germain, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, is being investigated over claims of Kidnap and torturous activities. 

    Al-Khelaifi is being scrutinized as three examining judges have been appointed in the capital of France, Paris.

    The claims is in connection with the supposed kidnapping and torturing of lobbyists Tayeb Benabderrahmane, according to information from French media outlet, L’Equipe.

    Nasser Al-Khelaifi has claimed innocence of all the indictments levelled against him and he has affirmed that “justice will run its course”.

    The lobbyists alleges that he had several increminating documents with informations on the president of Paris Saint Germain. 

    Benabderrahmane’s lawyers who go by the name Maïtres Romain Ruiz and Gabriel Vejnar, have stated that they are very satisfied with the move to conduct proper research and findings on the matter.

    Speaking with a media outlet they said: “We are very happy that the real file of this story is finally the subject of an investigation by the French justice.”

    It is said that the informations on the document was related to the awarding of the 2022 FIFA World Cup to Qatar. 

    The indictment also include serving of TV rights for the upcoming world cups in 2026 and 2023 to Benin media – of which Al-Khelaifi is the chairman of the media organization.

    Via a statement, Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “You are talking about professional criminals.

    “They’ve changed their lawyers more times than they’ve changed their stories and their lies.

    “It is the ultimate media manipulation. I’m just amazed so many people have taken their lies and contradictions as credible – but that’s the media world we’re in today.

    “Justice will run its course, I don’t have time to talk about petty professional criminals.”

    Tayeb Benabderrahmane has insinuated that he was detained unlawfully for six (6) months in Qatar after being arrested in January 2020.

    Benabderrahmane also said that he was tortured all through the period he was put under house arrest. 

    He says he was given freedom to leave in November after putting pen to paper on a document promising not to reveal “sensitive” informations related to the PSG boss. 

    Media organizations in France, Le Point and L’Independant, also put out the information that Benabderrahmane filed a civil action which basically gives room for a judicial investigation to be sent out.

    Previous allegations on Nasser Al-Khelaifi

    Nasser Al Khelaifi, 49, was formerly investigated over the bid for the World Cup coming to Qatar and his relationship with former member of FIFA, Jerome Vackle but he was let off the hook. 

    The recent allegations against him is one of the many troubles PSG are embroiled in, and it comes following defender Achraf Hakimi being indicted for rape.

    Paris Saint Germain are currently at the summit of the Ligue 1, but they have dropped the tempo since the FIFA World Cup ended. 

    Nasser Al-Khelaïfi was a member of the organising committee of the FIFA World Cup and he is also the chairman for Qatar Sports Investments which acquired PSG in 2011.

    The Paris Saint Germain president was also a tennis player in the past reaching a career-high level of 995 in 2002.

    The Qatari was appointed president and CEO of the French club after the Qatar Sports Investment took ownership of the club in 2011.

    Despite that, Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s side have not won the UEFA Champions League since the QSI takeover. Their closest to getting the elusive title was in 2019/20 where they were defeated by Bayern Munich in the final. 

    They also battle Bayern Munich in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League next week and they have an herculean task as they are down by a lone goal.
