The President of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis was held motionless in his car as he was mobbed by exuberant Napoli fans while trying to leave the Diego Armando Maradona stadium after a massive 2-1 victory over Roma on Sunday.

The high-spirited fans gushed into an uncontrollable frenzy following the club’s 13 points clear path atop Serie A as they strive to claim their first Italian Serie A championship title since 1990.

The 24-year-old Super Eagles football maestro and Serie A’s top scorer, Victor Osimhen opened the scoresheet for Napoli in the 17th minute when he chested down Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s cross inside Roma’s box and sent the ball into the roof of the net with a volley.

Osimhen’s superb goal on Sunday marked the 14th time he will see the back of the net in Serie A this season.

However, Mourinho’s side equalized in the 75th minute when substitute Stephan El Shaarawy broke through from his marker and slashed in a cross from an acute angle to give Napoli a stiff contest at home.

The aura at the Armando Maradona Stadium got altered four minutes before stoppage time, as Simone got the ball at the edge of the box, swiveled around, and sent it straight into the upper right corner to give the home team a meritorious 2-1 win.

The home fans who have been hoping for an end to their 33-year Scudetto spell got into an uncontrollable frenzy.

Napoli fans let out a powerful outcry of joy and relief at the end of the match after coming through a hard-fought contest with fierce rivals Roma.

Their dominant uproar became louder as they gathered around Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, obstructing his car while he was trying to leave.

Their shout as shown in the video clip below appears as a delightful roar and the president’s couldn’t hold his expression too despite being held motionless by the mob as one could tell he’s very much happy his side won the fierce battle.

The Billionaire president didn’t hesitate to join his delighted fans in celebration as he was spotted hopping to the fans’ chants in his immobile vehicle.

Following Sunday’s victory, Napoli now sits alone at the top of the league with 53 points from 20 games, 13 points ahead of second-placed Inter Milan.

Luciano Spalletti’s dream of breaking the 33-year Scudetto spell seems achievable as Napoli are 13 points clear of Inter Milan who are the closest challengers after champions AC Milan were humbled 5-2 by Sassuolo to leave their title defense in shambles.

Jose Mourinho’s beaten team, Roma occupy the sixth position with 37 points.

Napoli’s next fixture in the Serie A campaign will come up on the 5th of February against Spezia.
