Napoli’s President Aurelio De Laurentiis had rejected Saudi Arabia’s Pro League giant Al-Hilal’s bid of €130 million for Nigeria International Victor Osimhen.

Napoli rejected the offer immediately, hoping Osimhen would sign a new deal. Al-Hilal was initially interested in signing Kylian Mbappe but was forced to switch to other targets.

Kylian Mbappe doesn’t want to move to the Middle East and has his mind already glued to joining Real Madrid next season.

The Saudi Arabia Pro League has been able to attract world-class players, with the latest addition said to be Sadio Mane moving to Al Nassr to play with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Due to his record-breaking season, Victor Osimhen has attracted plenty of suitors in the summer of 2023.

Chelsea and Manchester United are monitoring him at Napoli, although Napoli President Preident claimed only Paris Saint-Germain would be willing to pay the club’s valuation of €200 million.

However, Chelsea had moved on with the acquisition of Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal, and Manchester United, who were badly in need of a striker, had reached an agreement with Atalanta over Denmark striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Osimhen led Napoli to their first Scudetto win since 1990 by scoring 31 goals in all competitions.

Osimhen was Napoli’s highest goal scorer in the 2022–23 Serie A season with 26 goals scored. His remarkable achievements got him a Golden Boot award, making him the first African to claim the award.

The Striker has been nominated for African Footballer of the Year. He has the chance of winning ahead of Mohamed Salah and other players in the category.

If he wins it, he is going to become the first Nigerian to win the award since Nwankwo Kanu won it in 1999.
