Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed he is ready to let Victor Osimhen leave the club this summer.
in a quote shared by transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, the 74-year-old Napoli Chief stated he wants to keep Victor Osimhen at Napoli next season but will be ready to let the 24-year-old leave if an “indecent” offer is tabled for the player.
“We will see Victor Osimhen wearing our shirt next season, that’s for sure.” De Laurentiis said.
“Then if a ‘more than indecent proposal arrives, we will move on and find another top talent as we did with [Khvicha] Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen.”
Osimhen led Napoli’s title charge last season, helping the club end their 33 years wait for the Scudetto with a prolific goal-scoring stats.
Osimhen scored 26 Serie A goals to clinch Serie A top scorer award while leading Napoli to a historic Serie A title win.
His standout performance for the Naples-based club attracted interest from top clubs in Europe.
Victor Osimhen link to Manchester United and Chelsea
Premier League side Manchester United were leading the list of clubs interested in signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli.
Manchester United were reportedly ready to splash over £100m for Victor Osimhen. Erik Ten Hag was reportedly interested in a move for the Nigerian striker to fill the void of a frontline striker as he continued his Old Trafford rebuild.
Osimhen was also targeted by Chelsea as the Blues sought a revamp of their deflated strike force as Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ended up on the bench after his move from Barcelona.
However, Chelsea later pulled out of the race for Osimhen to avoid collision with Financial Fair Play Rules after Todd Boehly’s £586m transfer spending.
Manchester United were equally ruled out of the race as the dragging takeover process left the club with depleted transfer budget for this summer transfer window.
Bayern Munich interested in Victor Osimhen
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich also indicated interest in signing Victor Osimhen but seems unfazed by the rumored over £100m demanded by Napoli for the striker.
French Ligue 1 giants PSG were also on the queue for Victor Osimhen as the club looked to revamp the club’s attack following the exit of Messi and likelihood of losing Neymar.
Victor Osimhen on his Napoli future
Speaking on his Napoli future amid interest from top clubs in Europe, Osimhen confirmed he want to stay at Napoli and he is happy to play for the club.
“…I can’t wait for the new season to come. There’s no better place to be than this place. I am so happy I made the right choice by coming here,” he said
Osimhen’s optimism of another heroic chapter with Napoli was affirmed by Aurelio De Laurentiis’ declaration last week that there is ‘no way’ he will allow Victor Osimhen leave the club this summer.
Hence his recent statement can be seen as a reversal although with reservations. Aurelie De Laurentiis’ ”more than indecent proposal” amount for Victor Osimhen will be subjected to debates by pundits in the coming days but Futballnews understands Osimhen will likely continue with Napoli next season if PSG do not register a strong interest in the striker.
However, the exit of Mbappe can rattle PSG into another transfer market raid to add another striker to the squad with the Nigerian forward a ready option.
