Leicester City has identified Monaco left-back Fode Ballo-Toure as a replacement for the Ben Chilwell following the England international’s switch to Chelsea.

Chilwell, who is a product of the Leicester City youth set-up, signed for Chelsea yesterday, putting pen to paper on a five-year deal.

According to reports, Brendan Rodgers has quickly identified a replacement for the English man and has turned their sight on Monaco’s full-back Fode Ballo-Toure

Foot Mercato reports that Leicester City sees the Frenchman as their main left-back priority and are keen on his signature.

Ballo-Touré began his playing career in France, as he was a member of the Paris Saint-Germain youth set up, playing for the PSG’s B team between 2014 and 2017.

Now Leeds United head coach and former Lille boss Marcelo Bielsa then snapped up the Frenchman for the Les Dogues on a free transfer.

Ballo-Toure became a household name for Lille as he featured in over 40 games, spending 18 months at the club, before catching the eyes of the 2017 Ligue 1 champions Monaco.

In January 2019, Monaco paid €11million mid-season to secure his services from Lille, and he would go on to feature in 18 of Monaco’s final 20 fixtures in the second half of the season.

Ballo-Touré, like Chilwell, is very offensive-minded. He is known for his explosive pace and dribbling abilities as he charges down the left flank, taking on the opposition’s full-back.

Defensively, he is also well grounded. Averagely, he was successfully dribbled past only 0.7 times per game last season, while 1.7 tackles and 1.7 clearances.

Leicester City is also rumored interested in Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico, who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge all summer.

With £50 million received from the Ben Chilwell deal, there is enough in the bank for Brendan Rogers to find a solid and impactful replacement.
