Mohamed Salah says he hopes to stay with Liverpool for “a long time” after he has helped the Premier League club to win their first Premier League title in 30 years.

The 28-year-old Egyptian forward has made a huge impact at the club since he joined the Merseyside club in 2017 from Roma for a then club-record fee of £36.9 million.

In his first season at Liverpool, Mohamed Salah scored 32 goals in 36 Premier League matches, to break the number of goals an individual player has ever scored in the league within a season. He ended the season with the Golden Boot and the PFA Players’ Player of the year awards.

Beyond that, organisers of Best FIFA Men’s player of the year award could not overlook the outstanding performance of the Egyptian in the 2017-2018 season as he made it to the third spot of the prestigious award behind Cristiano Ronaldo and above Lionel Messi.

His consistency as a goalscorer was not in doubt in the following season as he finished the 2018-2019 season as the league joint top scorer and also went ahead to lead Liverpool to win the 2019 UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup.

Though this season was not so good for Liverpool in Europe as they were knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid before the coronavirus pandemic halted football in March, Mohamed Salah was instrumental in helping Liverpool to win their first Premier League title in 30 years.

So far this season, Salah has managed to score 21 goals and made 10 assists in 41 appearances in all competitions. In the league alone, the Egyptian forward has scored 17 goals, made 7 assists in 27 appearances for the Premier League winning Liverpool team.

His current contract with Liverpool will expire on June 30th 2023 and he is currently earning £200,000-per-week, making him the highest-paid player at the club.

In his reaction after helping Liverpool to win the Premier League for the first time in 30 years, Salah told BeIN Sports that he can’t describe his feelings.

“I’m very happy”, he added. “I enjoy the atmosphere here. I love this place and I hope to stay for a long time. The atmosphere here is different from any other place. We have adapted well as a team and our understanding is perfect.

“If this continues, we can achieve more. It’s difficult to maintain our current level, but it’s not impossible.”
