Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool’s second goal against Bournemouth to push him to 187 goals and number 5 in all-time top scorers list of the club.
Luis Diaz opened the scoring, with Salah making it two before Diogo Jota wrapped it up to three but ended up with 10 men after Mac Allister was sent off.
However, all these goals came after the visitors opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with a goal from Antoine Semenyo.
The goal scored by Mohamed Salah saw him move up to 5th on Liverpool’s all-time top scorers list with 187 goals in 307 appearances.
Salah-led Liverpool dominated the entire game, winning 65% possession and completing 600 passes with an 86% accuracy.
The hosts also had 26 shots in total – 10 on target as against the visitor’s 13 total shots with just five on target.
The goal Salah scored has seen him overtake club legend Steven Gerrard who scored 186 goals in the all-time scorers’ list.
This now means the current Reds ace has bagged 187 goals for his side, while club icon Gerrard’s tally will forever remain 186.
However, it’s not like Gerrard didn’t see this coming though, he has previously discussed Salah’s sensational form in front of goal.
The ex-England international once confessed he hoped Mohamed Salah would go on to “embarrass” his Champions League goal record for Liverpool.
The two goals he scored were really a proud moment for the Egyptian as he could not hide his excitement over the win.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the record after the match, the former AS Roma forward said: “It’s very special, I can’t lie.”
“This record was in my mind since I came here, I think after my first year I was always chasing that record, so to break it today, against United, with that result, was unbelievable.”
“So I’m going home to celebrate with the family, have a camomile tea, and sleep!”
