MLS Cup reigning Champions Columbus Crew have completed the acquisition of United States goalie Abraham Romero from LAFC, as announced by the club.
In return for Romero, LAFC will receive $50,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money.
The 26-year-old Romero joined LAFC in January 2023 after playing for USL Championship teams Las Vegas Lights and Orange County SC. He has also had spells with LA Galaxy II and LIGA MX club Pachuca.
Romero will now be part of Columbus’ goalkeeper squad, alongside Hugo Lloris, Evan Bush, Nicholas Hagen and Thomas Hasal.

Chicago Fire FC have announced the acquisition of winger Ariel Lassiter from CF Montreal. The deal includes $75,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money (GAM) for Montreal, with a possibility of an additional $75,000 in 2025 GAM based on certain player performance conditions.
The 29-year-old signed a contract with the Fire for the remainder of the 2024 season. He joins the team after spending the past two seasons with Montreal, where he made a total of 56 appearances and contributed five goals and 10 assists.
The winger has played in a total of 143 MLS games, representing teams such as the LA Galaxy, Houston Dynamo, Inter Miami CF, and Montreal.

FC Cincinnati have made a major addition to their roster with the acquisition of forward Nicholas Gioacchini on loan from Como 1907 of the Italian Serie A.
The MLS club announced the signing with Gioacchini joining as a Designated Player on loan through the end of the 2024 Major League Soccer season.
The 24-year-old forward comes to FC Cincinnati after a brief stint with Como at the end of the 2023/24 season, where he made nine appearances.
Gioacchini had transferred to Como from St. Louis CITY SC in January 2024. During his time with St. Louis in the 2023 MLS season, Gioacchini scored an impressive 10 goals in 32 appearances.
FC Cincinnati are hopeful that Gioacchini’s goal-scoring prowess will bolster their attacking options as they look to improve on their performance in the upcoming MLS season.

Grasshopper Club Zurich is close to securing a deal for Canadian international midfielder Mathieu Choiniere from CF Montreal according to reports.
The club are willing to pay a fee of approximately $1 million for the talented midfielder, who has been seeking a move away from Montreal since contract negotiations hit a standstill earlier this year.
The 25-year-old Canadian Choiniere has spent his entire career at Montreal as a midfielder making 139 appearances for his boyhood club.
Furthermore, he was named in the MLS All-Star team in both 2023 and 2024, showcasing his impressive talents on the field.
