Minnesota United have completed the signing of defender Matus Kmet from Slovakian giants AS Trenčín.

The Major League Soccer franchise confirmed the acquisition of Kmet via a statement shared on their website, where they also revealed the length of the deal.

The statement reads: “Minnesota United announced today that the club has signed defender Matúš Kmeť from AS Trenčín of Slovakia’s top division to a contract through December 2026, with a club option for 2027.”

Matus Kmet becomes the 4th signing of Minnesota United this summer, having already secured the services of Kelvin Yeboah, Jefferson Díaz, and Samuel Shashoua.

The Loons will be hoping that the addition of Kmet will help propel the club to success in the foreseeable future.

Matus Kmet made 33 appearances for AS Trenčín in the 2023/24 season, scoring 1 goal and providing 10 assists across all competitions.
