Mikel Arteta has stated that he only wants two points back following the VAR error that robbed the Gunners in the draw against Brentford on Saturday 11th of February, 2023.

Mikel Arteta was disappointed with a 1-1 draw at home to the Bees as Ivan Toney scored from a close range after eight minutes after Leandro Trossard scored his first goal as an Arsenal player.

It was stated by reporters that Christian Norgaard was offside when Ivan Toney scored, but the goal was incorrectly permitted by VAR. Unfortunately for Mikel Arteta, the Premier League officials concluded that it was a result of human error.

However, the referee’s body Professional Game Match Official Limited (PGMOL) has since tendered an apology after the match in what was a serious dent for Arsenal’s English Premier League title hope.

Following the error caused by VAR, angry Mikel Arteta said; “It wasn’t human error, it was not understanding your job, that’s not acceptable.

The Spaniard added that “It cost Arsenal two points that are not going to be restored, so we are going to have to find the two points somewhere else in the League”.

As Punishment for the match official Lee Mason has been dropped from VAR duties.

Mason, who retired as a referee this season and become a dedicated VAR, has stepped aside for the next round of games after his blatant mistake.

This is his second suspension from the position since September when he wrongly disallowed a goal scored by Newcastle against Crystal Palace.

Premier League officials like Mason and Brooks watched a video session on the 14th of February, 2023, organized by PGMOL chief Howard Webb to prevent a repeat of the mistakes made over the weekend.

The Arsenal manager was furious because the lost points might be crucial in the standings come the season’s end.

The Gunners, who haven’t won the league in 19 years, are three points ahead of City with a game in hand heading into Wednesday’s crucial matchup.

The Gunners need to get over their disappointment soon since they have a huge game coming up at their home stadium, the Emirates.

Manchester City are only three points behind the League leaders, Arsenal. If Pep Guardiola’s men win against Arteta, their former assistant manager, they will go into first place in the league on goal difference.

Perhaps tonight is the best time. A win over Manchester City would put Arsenal six points ahead in a title chase that should only get more exciting as time goes on.
