The manager of Arsenal football club, Mikel Arteta has declared the London-based club not good enough after a woeful start to the 2021-2022 season.

The club was expected to have a very easy ride as the club’s season started on Friday, August 13, 2021, against a newly promoted Premier League club, Brentford.

Unfortunately for Mikel Arteta who struggled to help Arsenal stay in the Premier League last season, they were embarrassed by Brentford away from the Emirates Stadium.

Brentford played Mikel Arteta’s boys so well that the club could not respond to the attacking prowess of the newly-promoted club. Hence, the game ended 2-0 in favor of Brentford.

After the shocking display, Mikel Arteta told the press how he was disappointed over the stunning result that has given the club a shaky start to the new season which does not look too promising for the club.

The most disappointing part of the game for Arsenal was that the club had a couple of chances to bury the game but the club’s attacking line which missed the presence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette could not do much.

Hence, the 22 shorts Arsenal created in the game, four of which were on target ended up becoming a total waste of time as they left the newcomers’ stadium with a shocking defeat.

Mikel Arteta said: “I’m disappointed. It’s not the way we wanted to start the season. We didn’t start well, conceding a goal in an isolated incident. We didn’t cope well with the second balls or long balls. And that’s all they needed to create problems for us. Then we conceded from a long throw.

“The biggest worry was our threat in front goal. The number of times we got around the box and got in great situations but it wasn’t enough threat or shots on target. If you don’t do that in the Premier League then you won’t win.

“I don’t want excuses – we missed players but I don’t like to hide.

“We were not good enough to beat them. We did not do the basics. We have started disappointingly but we will review and speak with cool heads and try to put it right as soon as possible.”

While the coach of Brentford, Thomas Frank said: “The fans were amazing, what an atmosphere. I’m a bit speechless. First time in the top flight, we are opening the Premier League season, fans can dream we are number one in the Premier League. It’s a fantastic story.

“We are just a bus stop in Hounslow, we are not supposed to be here. We will celebrate every win, but we want more.

“I think the players today were amazing, they ran themselves to the ground, played with intensity, they were brave and pressed high constantly.

“On set-pieces, I thought we were better, that’s why we did long throws and at times we could go high and knew that we could win the ball and create chances.”

Arsenal have another big test on August 22, 2021, when Chelsea football club visit the Emirates Stadium for the club’s league game of the new season. As it stands, Mikel Arteta is condemned to win the game or else, the club’s fans might start singing about his exit from the club.
