After a disagreement with interim manager Ismail Kartal that resulted in his exclusion from the team for four months, Mesut Ozil’s contract was canceled, which prompted him to sign with rivals Istanbul Basaksehir on an initial one-year contract.

The former Germany international was permitted to leave the Emirates early and sign a three-and-a-half-year contract with Fenerbahce.

However, after a promising start in which he scored nine goals in 26 games, the World Cup winner was shunned following a dispute with the team’s previous manager, Ismail Kartal.
