The relationship between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund seems to be yielding fruit as the La Liga champions recently loaned Reinier Jesus to the Bundesliga giant for two seasons.

This is following the success of Achraf Hakimi at the Signal Iduna Park before the Galacticos eventually sold him to Inter for a £36.3m (€40m). Real Madrid is known for inserting buy-back clause in its top players’ contract. This won’t be known until we see the 21-year-old Morrocan improve further in his game as Dani Carvajal continues to make the right-back his own.

“Real Madrid CF and Borussia Dortmund have agreed to loan the player Reinier Jesus for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2022,” a statement from the website of the 13 times Champions League winners reads.

Jesus has now towed the path of Brazilians that has plied their trade with the German outfit for some time. They include Júlio César, Dedê, Evanilson, Márcio Amoroso Ewerthon, Léandro, Flávio Conceição ,Tinga, Felipe Santana , and Antônio Da Silva.

“Goodbye Real Madrid, hello Borussia Dortmund!” Reinier Jesus will spend the next two seasons on loan with last year’s Bundesliga runners-up,” a statement from Borussia Dortmund’s websites reads.

What will Reinier Jesus bring to Borussia Dortmund?

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder will add to the attacking impetus at the club no doubt having shown part of his skills with Real Madrid team.

Jesus, who is also a Brazil U23 international has more than a touch of Marco Reus about his game and this could make him an important member of the squad.

He made 14 appearances for Flamengo in their 2019 Brazilian league title-winning season scored six goals in the process. Also, he was part of the Flamengo squad that won the 2018/19 Copa Libertadores, where he made a late cameo in the quarter-finals.

He had a fruiteful debut season with boyhood club, Fkamnego

Jesus’ performance ignited interests from the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City, but Reinier left his boyhood club to join Real in January 2020. In his three outings with the Castilla team, he registered two goals and one assist only to have his progress stopped by injury.

Having played for the Brazil U16 and U17 teams, Reinier opened his U23 account in his third game in the Summer Olympics qualifying win over Bolivia. He further went to play in six of his country’s matches prior to his Madrid move.

The 6’0″-tall midfielder was rated 72 on FIFA 20’s career mode, albeit with a potential overall grade of 90. With the development, Jesus is could be the 11th Brazilian to play for Dortmund in the Bundesliga, following in the footsteps of the likes of Marcio Amoroso and Dede.

Due to his creative ability, he is being touted as a long term replacement for Marco Reus. The Brazilian, who also has an eye for goal and glides past opposition players in a manner not all that different from Reus can also play centrally or in a wide attacking position.

“I’m happy to be with BVB now. The club is known for backing young players and making them better. I want to learn a lot here, play a lot and help the team to be successful. I hope that we’ll have many happy moments together.” – Reinier on his move
