MBE title would not change Marcus Rashford

    Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford said his MBE status would not change him, adding that he never dreamt of earning the title while growing up.

    The MBE is a title that stands for “the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire”. It is an award given to people to recognize their contribution to “the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organizations, and public service outside the civil service”.

    Marcus Rashford earned the honor in October 2020 due to his effort to feed vulnerable children in the United Kingdom during the coronavirus lockdown in the country between March and October 2020.

    He is also credited for lobbying the government of the country into continuing with the free school meals policy during the coronavirus lockdown. He didn’t stop there, he used his platform to create a food bank for less privileged children in the country.

    The efforts of the 23-year-old English forward to eradicate hunger among children in the United Kingdom earned him the MBE title and a date with the Queen of England which has not happened due to the coronavirus pandemic. The MBE title has added to Marcus Rashford’s celebrity status across the world as his kind gesture always get positive mention across British media.

    “When I was younger it wasn’t like a dream of mine to have that status and growing up it wasn’t something that I expected to achieve”, Marcus Rashford told Sky Sports.

    “It’s something that I take in my stride and I’ll just make sure it doesn’t change me as a person and who I am.

    “I appreciate it but it wouldn’t have happened without the support team that I have behind me.

    “My family, my friends, and just the country in general really – the support that they have shown over the past year.

    “I know in football it’s so difficult to put aside rivalries. But in a time where people needed it most, the public and the country have done that. It’s a great credit to them.”

    So far this season, Marcus Rashford has scored 5 goals and provided 6 assists in 13 league games. He has scored a total of 12 goals and provided 6 assists in 21 games in all competitions this season.
