Maurizio Sarri recalled his players into training on Monday morning cancelling their routine day off and his pre-match press conference.

Maurizio Sarri did this because of the poor performance of his team following their 1-1 draw at home to Monza on Saturday afternoon.

Lazio has started the season poorly and have just won one of their opening five games of the 2023-24 season.

The result from Saturday subsequently leaves the Italian manager in 16th position in the Serie A table with just four points from five fixtures.

The Squad was expecting their scheduled day off on Monday but the manager and his staff canceled the plan.

Maurizio Sarri and his staff decided that the team would instead have a hardworking day on the pitch at Formello.

Maurizio Sarri also had some of his players on specialised recovery programs according to reports from an Italian paper.

These players on this program include Luis Alberto, Ciro Immobile, Mattia Zaccagni, Alessio Romagnoli, Danilo Cataldi, and Adam Marusic.

There have also been reports that there will be no press conference on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday evening’s clash against Torino.

However, Sarri will hold a pre-match interview from the stadium as a preparation for their upcoming fixtures.

The match on Saturday saw Maurizio Sarri and his men booed in the stadium after the full time whistle and that mounted more pressure on the coach and his players.

Maurizio Sarri admitted that something is up with his team after the match, saying: “We were too passive and handed the game to our opponents, so we did deserve the jeers.”

“Clearly, many things aren’t working well at the moment, but as we said before the match, it is difficult to think we can just emerge from this negative moment quickly. We ought to do more, but we’re struggling at the moment.”

“We hoped the Atletico game would help us kickstart the season, but playing after the Champions League game is tough for everyone, especially for us because we are not used to it.”

Recall we reported that Max Allegri revealed that he and Lazio boss Sarri are polar opposites to each other.

Maurizio Sarri was appointed the manager of Lazio on 9 June 2021 after he came back from a one-year sabbatical leave.

In his first season with the Italian Serie A side, the manager led the team to a fifth place finish in the league.
