Mauricio Pochettino will depart Paris Saint-Germain following discussions with the club late last week despite winning the French Ligue 1.
PSG are yet to make a formal announcement, but it is understood that the 50-year-old former Tottenham manager will not complete his term.
Zinedine Zidane, Jose Mourinho, or Nice coach Christophe Galtier could be announced as Pochettino’s replacement in the coming days.
Last season, PSG reclaimed the French title, but the Argentine tactician failed to guide them past the round of 16 in the Champions League.
PSG had a 2-0 aggregate lead with less than half an hour left in their second leg but ended up losing to eventual winners Real Madrid.
With PSG, Pochettino won his first two titles as a manager – the Coupe de France in 2021 and the Ligue 1 title in 2022 – but the club’s hierarchy believed that those were the least given the roster at his disposal.
Before appointing interim manager Ralf Rangnick and later Solskjaer’s permanent successor Erik ten Hag, the ex-Spurs manager was considered a possible candidate for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.
Pochettino was allegedly irritated that he had not been informed that he had been passed over for the United job.
PSGHub reports via Le Parisien that “Pochettino and PSG are on the verge of splitting up. It’s only an issue of a €15 million financial settlement.”

Pochettino and PSG appear to have reached an understanding, with reports claiming that both the manager and the club wish to part ways after this season.
What was Pochettino’s record?
On Wednesday, January 12th, 2021, Mauricio Pochettino won his first trophy as a manager when Paris Saint-Germain defeated Olympique de Marseille 2-1 in the Trophee des Champions.
Before that night, Pochettino had lost two finals: the Capital One Cup final in 2015 and the Champions League final in 2019.
In 2015, his Tottenham Hotspur team was defeated 2-0 by London rivals Chelsea, with goals from John Terry and Diego Costa.
Tottenham’s first Champions League final in 2019 got off to the worst possible start as Moussa Sissoko conceded a penalty against Liverpool after just two minutes. Spurs eventually lost 2-0, with Divock Origi adding to Mohamed Salah’s penalty.
Pochettino only moved to PSG in January 2021, replacing Thomas Tuchel in his first role since he was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in November 2019. Tottenham were converted into title challengers under Pochettino, but the coach was never able to bring any trophy to north London.
Pochettino was similarly unsuccessful in his attempts to win trophies at Espanyol and Southampton, but only had to wait for three matches to win his first trophy with PSG (2020 Trophée des Champions), thanks to goals from Mauro Icardi and Neymar.
