Futballnews gathered that Mattijs de Ligt who was Chelsea’s main target earlier in the summer transfer window will become one of the highest-paid players at Bayern. De Ligt will earn between €17m to €19million per year as Bayern’s player throughout his five-year stay in Germany.

De Ligt is one of the most sought after young defenders in the world and had interest from other clubs, especially Chelsea. However, the 22-year-old Dutch player decided to commit his future to Bayern.

Chelsea, on the other hand, were looking to replace the already departed Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, and De Ligt was one of the possible replacements, having already secured the signing of Kalidou Koulibaly. But that didn’t go as planned, hence, the Premier League club has to look elsewhere.

Arriving in Turin in 2019, Matthijs was an important addition to the Juventus defense, fully employing both his physical and technical skills, as he helped the Italian club to win a Serie A title, an Italian Cup, and an Italian Super Cup.

In his 109 appearances in all competitions as a starter, more than any other outfield player over the last three seasons, the Netherlands international put together some impressive stats: he completed 6160 passes, five of his eight goals were headers, he made a total of 339 clearances and blocked 86 shots, according Juventus official website.

“The city is very beautiful, I saw a lot of green space, beautiful parks. It’s very well organized, I like that a lot. It’s a bit like Holland – and feels a bit like home.” De Ligt told Bayern’s official website.

Bayern are also looking to sign Konrad Laimer after Matthijs de Ligt. A new bid is expected soon, and the German champions have agreed on personal terms with Laimer.

On the other hand, Bayern’s top scorer Robert Lewandowski left the Bundesliga’s heavyweights for Barcelona this summer, and it has been said that they will look for a replacement before the market closes. It is understood through reports that Bayern have their eyes on Napoli and Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
