Manchester United’s pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt has hit a setback after their €29 million bid for the Dutch defender got rejected by Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga giant, Bayern Munich, are demanding a transfer fee worth £43 million plus an add-ons in order to allow the player leave Bayern Munich.

Negotiations between Manchester United and Bayern Munich are expected to continue, with Manchester United keen to sign another centre back after the attempt to sign Jarrod Branthwaite fell short because Everton rejected two Manchester United bids.

De Ligt is the perfect candidate who will help strengthen the Manchester United defense, and he has already given the green light to join the club this summer.

The 2023–24 FA Cup champions are currently going through a large rebuild under the management of INEOS.

They have completed the signing of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro, and they are looking forward to adding more.

The INEOS wants to provide every necessary requirement for Erik ten Hag to be successful next season. The Manchester United manager, who signed a new two-year deal with the club, wants to continue winning silverware at every level.
