The manager of Chelsea, Graham Potter, revealed that Mason Mount will not be among the squad of England less than a day after he was named in the 23-man squad that will battle against Italy and Ukraine.

Ahead of Chelsea’s match against Everton on Saturday, Graham Potter established that the midfielder was not physically fit for action.

Potter said: “Mason has been struggling a little bit with his pubic bone. He wasn’t 100 per cent the last game, he’s still not quite there. So he’ll miss the England camp as well.”

The Englishman has featured in 23 matches for Chelsea this season

Mason Mount has featured in 23 games for the Blues this term in the English Premier League scoring three goals and making two assists.

Mount made a little appearance from the bench in the 1-1 share of the spoils against West Ham United alongside the 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Englishman has been unavailable for the club’s most recent matches against Leeds United, Borussia Dortmund and Leicester City due to injury.

Mason Mount teammates at Chelsea, Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Conor Gallagher were all named in the squad to prosecute the European Championship 2024 qualifiers.

Raheem Sterling is also another name not listed in the squad due to injury and Graham Potter gave an information on his body fitness.

He said: “Raheem has a problem with his hamstring. It’s not too serious but he’ll miss the game at the weekend and the international trip.”

Chelsea appear like they do not want to endanger the players injured as they would not want to rush them back from injury even though the club is embroiled in a frenetic end to the campaign.

The Blues play Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League as it was confirmed on Friday.

Mason Mount is entangled in massive questions over his future with Chelsea after he turned down several contract offers tabled by Chelsea.

The midfielder has been strongly linked with a deal to put pen-to-paper on a contract to join fellow Premier League contenders Liverpool.

Chelsea and Mason Mount must come to the negotiation table and agree on a deal that would suit both partners otherwise Mount might be heading away from Chelsea in the coming months.

He has been at Chelsea since the age of 6 and he made his Premier League debut for Chelsea on the 11th of August, 2019 at the age of 20 years 7 months and 1 day.

The 24-year-old has scored 58 goals in 278 appearances across the clubs he has played for in his career.

Mount’s present contract with Chelsea runs until 2024 and he is said to have turned down an offer from the club of around £200,000-a-week.

Mason Mount is in disagreement on the contract length being offered by Chelsea

The contract length being tabled is appearing to be the bone of contention between both parties with the Englishman wanting a shorter contract.

Reports last year indicated that Chelsea put forward a contract of 7 years to Mason Mount but it was turned down by the 24-year-old. He also wants an increased salary that would show how valuable he is to the club.

The Englishman has appointed a new agent who goes by the name, Neil Fewings and he is from the Wasserman Media Group.

Mount has handed the responsibility of overseeing a possible transfer away from Chelsea to Fewings, as indications are pointing towards him exiting his current club.

He lifted the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea in the 2020/21 football season.
