Rashford Pulls Out of England Squad

The Football Association has reported that due to a slight ankle problem, Marcus would not feature in for England’s upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Iceland and Denmark.

The FA confirm that it was decided that the Manchester United forward withdraw to limit the risks of aggravating the injury and focus on his recovery.

Harry Maguire, Rashford, and Dean Henderson were the Manchester United players named in the Three Lions squad by manager Gareth Southgate last week, however, Rashford exits the squad, joining Harry Maguire, who was dropped due to his altercation in Greece.

In an official statement, Manchester United wrote: “Marcus is completing his recovery from a minor ankle problem in order to be ready for the Premier League season.

The England games are just too soon given our short break after the Europa League.”

Rashford quickly took to Twitter to reveal how disappointed he was not to be able to represent his dear country.

Rashford wrote: “Gutted. I never want to let this team down but these fixtures just came a little too soon for me. I tried my best but I have to focus on starting the season at my strongest for club and country.

Good luck boys, I’ll be cheering you on from home.”

Jack Grealish Replaces Rashford in England Squad

Aston Villa star Jack Grealish has been handed his first call up to the England national team by head coach Gareth Southgate, following Marcus Rashford’s injury.

The 24-year-old was initially left out of Southgate’s 23-man squad, ahead of their Nations League matches. The news was received with shock by fans worldwide as Grealish was simply outstanding last season and was instrumental in Aston Villa’s survival in the Premier League.

In 41 appearances for Aston Villa, Grealish recorded 18 goal contributions, as he scored 10 goals and provide eight assists. His superb performances for Villa has not gone unnoticed as he has been heavily linked with a move to English giants Manchester United.
