Marcus Rashford Injury Update

Manchester United were hit with a low blow when Marcus Rashford pulled what seems to be a fracture in his back during their FA cup clash against the Wolves.  Marcus Rashford is set to be out for at least six weeks with a stress fracture of the back, this is according to a release from  manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. As disappointing as it is, United are left without a forefront man and Martial can only do so much. With Pogba and Mctominay still out on injury, it seems Ole will have to rely on Greenwood.

Rashford shocking set back comes as the 22 year old sustained the injury after being introduced as a second-half substitute in Wednesday’s 1-0 FA Cup third round replay win over Wolves.

“He’s suffered a bad injury, it’s a stress fracture,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports television after Sunday’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool. “It happened against Wolverhampton and it is not something that has happened before. I’m looking at Marcus to be out for a while.”

“He won’t be back, I’m not a doctor so I don’t know exactly, but we are looking at several weeks and then some rehab after that probably.”

United has been having quite the season on and off the field and is currently fifth in the Premier League and looking at striking reinforcements in the January transfer window. With a replacement for both Lukaku and Sanchez, this would be the time for United to roll out the cash and make some things happen.

“We’ve had many injuries to big players this season, it’s just an unfortunate position that we are in,” Solskjaer said. “The window is open and it might be that we look at something for the short term.

“We are not desperately looking. We are looking at numbers and, if the right one is there for us, then something might be possible.” The United Boss added.

Rashford, who was initially ruled out for 2 weeks, took to his social media account a few days ago to express his disappointment and apologize to the fans.

Rashford missed the crash at Anfield on Sunday when United suffered a terrible defeat. Rashford’s absence is said to have played a crucial role in United’s setback. Liverpool are now 30 points clear of Manchester United with a game at hand.

Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes looks set to complete a transfer to Manchester United but the Red Devils are yet to seal the deal. Fernandes played for Sporting Lisbon in their 2-0 derby defeat by Benfica on Friday night which may well be his final appearance for his current club.

With Rashford set for a spell on the sidelines this would be the best time for Manchester United to seal a deal for Bruno being they would be without an active striker for weeks.
