Borussia Monchengladbach head coach Marco Rose will be at the helms of affairs of Borussia Dortmund, leaving the Borussia Park at the end of the season, as both clubs confirmed.

Rose joined Monchengladbach in 2019 and secured the club a UEFA Champions League ticket- completing the top four- in his first season as their manager. He led The Clots to the UCL round of 16 and will be facing Manchester City.

It was said that Dortmund owners have been a long time admirer of Marco Rose, because of his ability to play an attacking style and get the best out of his players. Finally, he made the deal at his request.

Monchengladbach sports director, Eberl Max said discussions have been held on the future of the German manager, but the former RB Leipzig will make a reunion with Erling Haaland, leaving Gladbach next season, despite his contract will set to expire in 2022.

“In the past few weeks, we have held a lot of discussions with Marco about his future. Unfortunately, Marco has decided that he would like to exercise a clause in his contract, which was due to expire in June 2022, and move to Borussia Dortmund in the summer,” said Max in the club’s website

Following his exit, Max promised the club will achieve its goals in the German league, German Cup, and Champions League.

“Therefore, Marco will no longer be available to us after the end of the season should the conditions set out in his contract be met on time. Until then, we will do everything in our power together with Marco to achieve this seasons’s goals in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League.”

Hence, Dortmund issued out a communique on the club’s website that Marco Rose will be their next manager as from next season

“Marco Rose will be the new head coach of the Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund from the 2021/22 season. The 44-year-old has given BVB managers a corresponding promise. All parties involved will now complete the contractual documentation of this coaching change in due time.” the statement read.

Marco Rose will replace Dortmund’s interim manager who occupied the position, following the sack of Lucien Favre in December last year.

There are doubts that Rose will able to turnaround the fortune of the Dortmund squad with the presence of Haaland and Jadon Sancho at the club.

The Marcos Rose led side will be facing his future owners in the German Cup quarterfinals next March, as the Borussia sides looking to secure a top-four finish in the 2020/21 campaign.
