Chelsea have emerged as frontrunners for the signature of the highly-rated Barcelona youngster Marc Guiu.
The Granollers-born 18-year-old forward has emerged as a top target for elite clubs in Europe after his 2023 breakout campaign with Spain U17 and Barcelona.
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich were strongly linked with a move for Guiu with reports the club have held positive talks with Barcelona for the youngster.
Now, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Chelsea are now leading the race for Guiu and are close to reaching an agreement with the youngster.
“Chelsea are advancing in talks to sign Marc Guiu by triggering €6m release clause.
“The agreement with Guiu on a long-term deal is getting closer, Bayern overtaken after positive talks this weekend.
“Barça offered Guiu a new deal — still no final answer from the player’s side,” Fabrizio Romano says.
Guiu, known for his vibrant attacking play, has a year left on his contract with no renewal yet. The La Masia graduate could be available for transfer if his €6million release clause is triggered. Barcelona are open to keeping him but he has yet to sign a new deal.
