    Marc-Andre ter Stegan has broken the record for the most sheets in a Spanish La Liga season by an FC Barcelona goalkeeper after his team’s victory on Saturday, 29th of April.

    The German International has 24 La Liga clean sheets to his name, overtaking Claudio Bravo’s record of 23 clean sheets in the 2014/2015 campaign.

    In addition, Marc-Andre ter Stegan has not missed a single minute of a league match this season, conceding just 11 goals in 32 games.

    Marc Andre ter Stegan needs just two more clean sheets to tie Francisco Liano’s record of 26 set at Deportivo La Coruna in 1993-94. The Barcelona goalie still has six games left this season to break that record.

    Meanwhile, Barcelona are also on the verge of setting a new La Liga record for the fewest goals conceded in a season. Deportivo La Coruna (1993–94) and Atletico Madrid (2015–16) hold the record for least goals conceded 18 in a season (38 games).

    Ter Stegen had little to do against Real Betis, as Barcelona won comfortably at home with only one save required. However, whenever he has been required to act, he has done so with decisiveness.

    According to reports, the 30-year-old is the best goalkeeper in the Spanish first division this season. With an 11-point lead in the La Liga standings, he should lead the Catalan giants to their fifth league title.

    Barcelona vs Real Betis in brief;

    Marc-Andre ter Stegan

    Barcelona had won only once in their previous five games across all competitions heading into their La Liga match against Real Betis.

    On April 26, they played perhaps their worst game of the season, losing 2-1 to Rayo Vallecano in the league. Barca’s 4-0 win over Los Verdiblancos was Andreas Christensen’s first game back in the starting lineup since the international break in March.

    In the 14th minute, Christensen scored the game’s first goal with a header. After Edgar Gonzalez’s dismissal at the 30th minute mark, Barca cruised to two more first-half goals without much trouble.

    Fifteen minutes into the second half, Christensen was taken off the field, probably as a protection. The ex-Chelsea central defender not only scored a goal, but he also had a 98% pass completion rate on 47 attempts.
