Akanji, the Switzerland defender took to his verified Instagram handle to post a picture of Malik in which the 4-year-old was seen donning a Manchester City shirt.
The former Borussia Dortmund player posted the photo with a lovely message, he wrote; “Happy 4th Birthday to our big boy, we are really proud of you and love you so much”.
However, the former FC Basel defender took fans by surprise as he decided to cover the boy’s face with a blue love emoji, which left many asking why he had covered the boy’s face.

Akanji started his youth career with the local club in Wiesendangen. In May 2007, he joined FC Winterthur, featuring for their Under-18 team and later with their second team.
