Manchester United Youngster Alejandro Garnacho In Brewing War With Manager Erik Ten Hag

    Erik Ten Hag and Alejandro Garnacho appear to be at loggerheads after the latter liked two posts on social media criticizing the former.

    Garnacho took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to react to posts shared by popular and controversial Manchester United fan Mark Goldbridge.

    Goldbridge bashed Ten Hag’s decision to substitute Alejandro Garnacho ahead of the restart of the second half, alongside the Dutchman’s uncanny post-match comments on the attacker.

    Erik Ten Hag expressed that his reason for substituting the Argentine was due to his work rate, saying: 

    “In the second half there were two things, stay in formation in possession and don’t get erratic. 

    “Because we will create, and we gave a lot of space away. And the second thing is do your job in the defending part.

    “It’s the truth that in this moment with all the problems we have, we play to our levels and we can play very well to our levels.

    “And you have to do it to the end of the game and the last four games we dropped off from a winning position but today we came from a losing position.”

    Midway through the second period, Goldbridge took to X (formerly known as Twitter), writing:

    “Garnacho has been one of our best players this season. Poor first half but taking him off at half-time and holding him up as the problem is a joke. 

    “Many have done much worse week in week out and are still out there.”

    Following the game, after listening to the post-match presser, Mark Goldbridge additionally took to X, sharing his thoughts on Erik Ten Hag’s comments.

    He wrote:  “Ten Hag subtly blaming Garnacho in the post-match press conference…not a good look throwing a 19-year-old under the bus who has actually delivered for you this season. 

    “But then again he’s clearly scared of upsetting the bigger earners.”

    Manchester United had a poor evening at the Vitality Stadium, struggling throughout the game although managing to muster a draw, thanks to a brace from Bruno Fernandes.

    The Cherries had opened the scoring in the 16th minute through Dominic Solanke before Fernandes equalized for the Red Devils in the 31st minute of proceedings.

    Five minutes later, Justin Kluivert propelled Andoni Iraola’s side back into the lead, but a penalty converted by Bruno Fernandes in the 65th minute drew Manchester United level.

    In the 5th minute of added time, Bournemouth could have had a course to rejoice, after Willy Kambwala crashed into Ryan Christie, with Referee Tony Harrington immediately pointing to the spot.

    It was looking like deja vu once again for the Red Devils, having conceded a penalty in each of their last two games, against Chelsea and Liverpool respectively.

    However, after Harrington reviewed the incident with VAR, the penalty call was rescinded and Manchester United were pleased with the decision.

    Anyway, Alejandro Garnacho has subsequently unliked both posts by Goldbridge, after fans became aware of his actions on the microblogging app.

    Garnacho also shared a post on his Instagram story, where he looked distraught during the game.

    The former Atletico Madrid man also included an emoji of a face with an open mouth or wow emoji, indicating his frustrations.

    Alejandro Garnacho,19, has been a pivotal player for Manchester United this campaign, scoring 9 goals and providing 4 assists in 42 appearances this campaign.

    His goals contribution tally are only bettered by Rasmus Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes, and this certainly tells how crucial the young man has been this season.

    He becomes the latest player of the club said to be having issues with Erik Ten Hag, after Jadon Sancho exited the team on loan in January 2024, joining Borussia Dortmund until the end of the season, due to a rift with the Dutch gaffer.

    Cristiano Ronaldo also had a spat with the former Ajax boss during the 2022/23 season, months before he joined Al Nassr in January 2023, after his contract was terminated by Manchester United in November 2022.

    It will be fascinating to see what the coming weeks are pregnant with, as the relationship between Erik Ten Hag and Alejandro Garnacho will definitely be up in the minds of many.
