Manchester United were not permitted to go public to talk about Jadon Sancho fight against mental health difficulties in the 2022–23 season.
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag revealed that Sancho would not be available for some time due to his physical and mental factors.
However, sources close to Manchester United instigated that the manager didn’t specifically use the word “mental health”.
He was given the go-ahead to travel to the Netherlands in a bid to recover from his mental health issues.
Erik Ten Hag provided what he needed the most in terms of recommending coaches that would help him recover from his pain.
Ten Hag had shown a lot of support for the English winger, and upon his return to the Manchester United squad, the manager seemed to be extremely happy for Sancho’s recovery.
Many social media users refer to Erik Ten Hag as a father figure for the prominent role he played in making Sancho return to the club.
The mental issue was rumored to have surfaced after it was noticed that the winger deleted all his Instagram pictures.
Others related to it is his inability to make the England squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Recently, the relationship between Jadon Sancho and Erik Ten Hag has become sour, with the manager criticizing the player’s mentality.
After Manchester United lost to Arsenal on September 3, 2023, Ten Hag said the winger had not trained well in the lead-up to the clash.
Jadon Sancho went on social media to counter Erik Ten Hag’s claims, saying they were completely untrue.
He continued, “I will not allow people to say things that are completely untrue. I have conducted myself in training very well this week”.
“I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t get into; I have been a scapegoat for a long time, which isn’t fair.”
Before moving to Manchester United, Jadon Sancho showed he is one of the most talented players in Europe.
However, he had failed to live up to expectations since joining the Premier League giant.
Sancho had scored 12 goals and created six assists in 82 appearances for the Manchester United side. He also won the Carabao Cup last season.
