Manchester United is considering a shock move to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid as they are having trouble luring Frenkie de Jong away from Barcelona.
This summer, Erik ten Hag singled out De Jong as a primary objective for a move, but he hasn’t made any progress toward securing the transfer of his former star.
Due to Man United’s inability to reach an agreement with the Spanish heavyweights, the Dutch midfielder has been the focus of strong transfer rumors.
And it looks that they have Casemiro of Real Madrid in mind as a new target.
The Brazilian is reportedly an option for Man United as they want to strengthen their midfield before the transfer deadline, according to the Spanish outlet Marca.
Real have not received any offers, according to the report, which also asserts that no one at the club is immune to market fluctuations.
The 30-year-old has been a member of Real’s roster since 2013 and was crucial to the success that his team experienced last season.
He has especially made a difference in helping his team win five Champions League titles, two La Liga championships, and other medals.
In Carlo Ancelotti’s star-studded roster, Casemiro has appeared in more than 300 games for the club.
Therefore, given his significance to Ancelotti, a move outside of Spain seems doubtful.
However, as was already established, the La Liga champion’s opinion on Casemiro might change if Manchester United approaches negotiations with a sizable offer.
Following his team’s disastrous start to the ongoing Premier League season, Ten Hag is looking for new talent.
Their first two games were losses to Brentford and Brighton.
After the humiliating 4-0 loss to Brentford, the Dutch manager pleaded with the board to allow him to bring in new players.
“We need new players and quality players,” he said.
“We’ll do everything to convince them to come.”
Will Casemiro fit into Manchester United?
Casemiro primarily functions as a defensive midfielder, but he has also occasionally been used as a center-back or in a box-to-box role in the middle of the pitch.
Although he is not extremely gifted or skilled on a technical level (although he was able to improve in this area under manager Zinedine Zidane during their time at Real Madrid together), Casemiro is a midfielder with a high work rate who is intellectual, physically powerful, mobile, aggressive, and hard-tackling.
Casemiro is a crucial player and Carlo Ancelotti’s go-to starter, so even with the addition of Aurelien Tchouameni, the midfielder’s departure from Real Madrid would require a very, very large bid from Manchester United. Casemiro is not for sale, according to club sources, according to Managing Madrid.
Los Blancos have complete control over Casemiro’s future because of his contract, which runs through the summer of 2025.
The player enjoys his position in the capital of Spain, so there isn’t a great chance that United will sign Casemiro right now.
Will Ten Hag succeed in signing fresh talents before the transfer deadline? Only time can tell what will become of Manchester United this season.
