Manchester United fans are calling on Erik Ten Hag to start Cristiano Ronaldo against Arsenal in the Premier League Matchday Six fixture. Ronaldo has only started in one of Manchester United’s all five fixtures since the 2022/23 English Premier League began.

Ronaldo came off the bench to make his 2022/23 Premier League debut for Manchester United against Brighton. The team lost 2-1, suffering a shock defeat to the Seagulls. He started against Brentford, a match the Red Devils were smashed 4-0 in just 35 minutes into the game. It was a shocking result for Ten Hag, who blamed the defeat on the attitude of the players.

Erik Ten Hag made some petty changes to the squad. He benched team Captain Harry Maquire and returned Cristiano Ronaldo to the bench against Liverpool. The Red Devils pulled a strong and superb performance against the Reds. Although losing out on ball possession, Ten Hag’s tactical plan and changes in the defense paid off. The Red Devils won 2-1, handing the former Ajax manager his first Premier League victory.

After a surprising victory over the Reds, Ten Hag has stuck to that team selection, leaving Maguire on the bench with Ronaldo reduced to a cameo appearance off the bench. Manchester United have won their last three matches, climbing to the 5th position on the table with Ten Hag’s new selection.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance in Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Southampton has sparked reactions among fans. Some fans are questioning Erik Ten Hag’s team selection as they wondered why and how top stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro should start from the bench.

@vandebackk wrote, “everyone seeing the light on Rashford. Ronaldo did more in 20 minutes that Rashford all game.”

@jxtra wrote, “if Ronaldo doesn’t start against Arsenal, I will lose my mind.”

@markgoldbridge wrote, “very happy with that defence, but Ronaldo and Casemiro need to start against Arsenal if we want 3 points.”

Ronaldo had a pretty good start at Old Trafford last season after he returned from Juventus in a deal worth £12.85m for a two-year contract, with an option of a one-year extension.

On his second debut with Manchester United, he scored the opening two goals as Manchester United thrashed Newcastle 4-1. Although Manchester United failed to qualify for the Champions League, Ronaldo mobbed up 24 goals for the Red Devils in all competitions finishing as the team’s highest goal-scorer for the season.

Despite a good performance for the team last season, Ronaldo’s fortunes at Old Trafford began to dwindle after he called for an exit at the end of last season. Although, Ten Hag has reiterated his resolve to work with the world’s top striker, hardly has this translated into his team selection. The Portuguese has not started the last three matches and the opening match against Brighton.

Manchester United battles Arsenal in their next Premier League encounter; a match most pundits say is an actual test of Erik Ten Hag’s readiness for the Premier League challenge.

Mikel Arteta, on the other hand, has a lot to play for in the match, as he has won all his five Premier League matches so far, including all his preseason friendlies.

The match will be a rollercoaster, and Man United fans are calling for the two big and experienced names – Ronaldo and Casemiro to be included in the starting lineup. However, Ten Hag has not revealed whether the two names will start against Arsenal yet.
