New Manchester United’s prime target Casemiro has reportedly made ‘positive indications’ of a potential switch to Old Trafford from Real Madrid.

Manchester United may be hoping to land their first significant target Casemiro with the Brazilian international giving the green light for a possible switch to Old Trafford. Manchester United agents, led by John Murtough, have reportedly met with Real Madrid officials, and talks between the two parties are said to be advancing and may likely yield a positive result.

Casemiro has become Manchester United’s prime target after the club fell out on potential deals with Adrien Rabiot and Marko Arnautovic. Manchester United called off their bid for Adrien Rabiot after an imbroglio instigated by Rabiot’s mother, Veronique Rabiot. Veronique demanded a massive weekly wage for her son, a development that would have shot the midfielder into one of the top earners at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils also pulled out of Bologna’s Marko Arnautovic deal after details of his racist records at FC Twente emerged. The Red Devils have also been on the trail of the Atletico Madrid duo Matheus Cunha and Joao Felix. Atletico Madrid wasted no time pulling the red flag by making it clear that the two players are not for sale. They have rejected Man United’s €130m bid for Joao Felix and have retreated that Cunha is neither up for sale.

Another top target that has fallen from Manchester United’s grasp is Frenkie de Jong. Erik Ten Hag has made de Jong his prime target since his arrival in Manchester. Despite reaching an agreement with Barcelona for the Dutch international, de Jong has not hidden his resolve to stay at Camp Nou.

After a series of transfer deadlocks, Casemiro has emerged as a top target for the Old Trafford club. The Red Devils have admitted an initial interest in the defensive midfielder but were overshadowed by hopes of signing de Jong.

According to the Athletic, talks are progressing between both parties, and Manchester United are planning an attractive wage package almost double his Real Madrid earnings.

Despite being an instrumental part of Real Madrid’s treble-winning squad last season, the Brazilian may open a new chapter in his football career.

Meanwhile, competition in Real Madrid’s midfield line-up has reportedly heated up after the arrival of Tchouameni from AS Monaco.

The Brazil international may not be likely favored and may be on his way out like fellow Brazilian midfielder Marcelo. Marcelo started Real Madrid’s opening La Liga fixture from the bench and may fall on the wayside as The Los Blancos continue to plan for the future with more energetic and younger talents.

Manchester United and Real Madrid have not yet agreed on a deal concerning Casemiro. However, talks are still progressing, and Carlo Ancelotti is said to be a key factor if the Red Devils would record a breakthrough in their pursuit of the player.

Casemiro has made 336 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 31 goals with 29 assists since he joined the club from Sao Paulo.
